Farm Fresh Eggs Delivered to Your Door | Bega Valley Eggs

Looking for farm fresh eggs delivered to your home? Here’s everything you need to know about pasture raised eggs, how they’re produced, and why they taste so much better.

What are pasture raised eggs?

Pasture raised eggs come from hens that live outdoors on fresh pasture, where they can roam, forage, and behave naturally. Unlike standard free-range systems, hens are regularly moved onto new grass, giving them constant access to fresh ground.

This results in better animal welfare and eggs with richer flavour and deeper golden yolks.

What’s the difference between pasture raised and free range eggs?

The main difference is space and access to pasture.

·       Free range eggs: hens have outdoor access, but often in large flocks with limited pasture quality

·       Pasture raised eggs: hens are rotated onto fresh pasture regularly, with more space and access to natural foraging

This is why pasture raised eggs are often considered “better than free range.”

Why are pasture raised eggs better?

Pasture raised eggs are often better because:

·       Hens live more naturally outdoors

·       They forage on grass, insects, and seeds

·       Eggs are typically fresher

·       Yolks are richer in colour and flavour

For us, it’s about producing eggs that are better for the hens, the land, and the people eating them.

Why are egg yolks orange?

Egg yolks are darker because of the hens’ diet.

Our hens forage daily on pasture, eating grasses, seeds, and insects alongside their feed. This contributes to deep golden to orange yolks, associated with better flavour and quality.

Are your eggs fresh?

Yes - extremely fresh.

We collect, grade, and pack our eggs on farm, then send them directly to you. This means your eggs haven’t spent weeks in storage like supermarket eggs often do.

Are your eggs washed or unwashed?

Our eggs are washed after collection.

They are cleaned, graded, and then carefully packed by hand on our farm before delivery.

How are your hens raised?

Our hens live outdoors on pasture and are rotated regularly onto fresh ground.

·       Roam freely during the day

·       Forage naturally

·       Have constant access to fresh air and space

Animal welfare is at the heart of everything we do.

Are any chickens harmed to produce eggs?

No.

Hens naturally lay eggs as part of their biological cycle.

Are your eggs fertilised?

No - our eggs are unfertilised.

There are no roosters in our laying flocks, so no embryo develops inside the egg.

What do pasture raised hens eat?

Pasture raised hens eat a balanced diet made up of:

·       Grain based feed (main nutrition)

·       Grass and pasture plants

·       Insects and seeds

This ensures they stay healthy and productive.

Is your chicken feed GMO-free?

Yes - our feed is GMO-free.

Do your hens only eat grass and insects?

No - foraging is only part of their diet.

Chickens require a balanced diet, so we provide formulated feed alongside pasture.

Do you use chemicals or sprays on your pasture?

No.

We rely on natural systems, including the hens themselves, to fertilise the land.

Are your hens vaccinated?

Our hens arrive on farm at around 16 weeks of age from a trusted grower.

They are vaccinated early on as part of standard industry practice, then raised outdoors on pasture.

Do you deliver eggs to my home?

Yes - we deliver farm fresh eggs directly to your door in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, and the South Coast from Eden to Woolongong.

How long do fresh eggs last?

When stored in the fridge, our eggs typically last several weeks.

Because they’re delivered soon after being laid, they’re often fresher than supermarket eggs.
